The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala went down last night, and the celebrities were out in full effect. The annual Costume Institute Gala is probably the fashion event of the year, second to no other event except maybe the Oscars. This year's theme was, "Poiret: The King Of Fashion," honoring Pual Pioret, the self proclaimed king of fashion. Poiret was a French fashion designer around the time of WWI, who's probably best known for his designs that freed women from the corsets that were worn during that time. So many people came out for this year's Gala, so I just chose a few of my favorite looks to share with you all.

Cameron Diaz Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07 Rihanna Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07
Cameron Diaz definitely wore my favorite look of the night in her magenta Christian Dior gown. I loved this dress on the runway in January, and I love it on Cameron. She's gotten some flack for her turquoise accessories, but I think they just add to her gown. The contrast between the turquoise of the necklace/earrings, and the magenta of the gown is beautiful. Bold color choices are a favorite of mine, and Cameron does it wonderfully.

Rihanna is definitely making moves in the celebrity scene. It's like she just blew up over night. Her look was my second favorite of the night. The cut and design of the dress just fits her body perfectly, and I even love her little gloves, lol. And isn't that cut just fabulous? I like how her subtle makeup and simple haircut allow her dress to shine.

Kerry Washington Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07 Kate Bosworth Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07
Kate Bosworth definitely has that vintage glam going on in Prada. She's beautiful in a look that's reminiscent of a 20s flapper. It's nice to see her glowing and looking healthy. Everything is just perfect with her look-- the waves in her hair, the balloon hem of her dress, and her silver and gold shoes. Plus, she adds a great pop of color to her neutral look, with cranberry lips. Kate is surely on the come up.

Kerry Washington is always flawless, and last night's event was no different. Making perfection look effortless, Kerry looks beautiful in a floor length black Derek Lam gown. I appreciate how her makeup is almost always minimal, allowing her natural beauty to shine through. She proves that even though it may be a formal occasion, you don't have to go over board with the makeup. Sometimes less is actually more.

Iman Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07 Eva Mendes Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07
Does Iman just not age? I swear, as the years go by, she just gets more and more fabulous. White suits have been popular amongst celebs this spring season, and Iman is owning this look. It's a simple look, but one that makes an impact. Plus, Iman has the perfect accessory to go with her outfit, a great husband!

Eva Mendes looks fab, but I wonder if her look is a bit subdued for this particular event. The pockets on her Michael Kors dress are my favorite. Dresses with pockets has been one of my favorite celebrity trends. Eva's a natural beauty, so she didn't have much to do in the hair and makeup department.

Christina Ricci Naomi Watts Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07 Naomi Watts Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07
Although I kind of question Christina Ricci's hair and makeup choices, I love this Calvin Klein dress on her. Christina's a petite girl, but the dress gives her some fabulous curves. She often makes daring fashion choices, and not all of them work, but overall, I think Christina looks great here. This look is definitely a hit.

Naomi Watts glows in Zac Posen. It's so fabulous how celebrity mommies to be can get their designer friends to make beautiful gowns for them. The MET Costume Institute Gala is all about wearing bold fashion choices, and Naomi isn't letting her pregnancy stop her from being a fashionista.

Molly Sims Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07 Sandra Bullock Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala 07

Molly Sim's Armani Prive gown is one that few women could pull off. I guess it helps that she used to be a model, because I think Molly wears this dress well. This is definitely a daring fashion choice, and it could have gone horribly wrong (I'm sure some people still think it did, lol). There's just so much fabric, being tall sure helps!

Sandra Bullock looks absolutely stunning. The cranberry color of her Alberta Ferretti gown perfectly matches her skin. Sandy has had a little personal trouble lately (some lady tried to kill Sandra's husband!), but she still manages to glow on the red carpet. Note that Sandra has kept the jewelry to a bare minimum. Just simple earrings and a few bangles were all she needed to add the finishing touches to her look.
